- AAOM STUDENT Organization (AAOM-SO) The AAOM-SO was the outgrowth of the last AAOM conference – Expo 2005, held in Chicago, IL. The AAOM-SO has already made significant progress under the emerging, strong leadership responsible for coordinating this effort. The group has been responsible for the addition of 427 new student members in less than one year. If you are interested in joining, please visit the AAOM Student Services page. The students are currently awaiting finalization of the bylaws, which must be approved by the AAOM Board of Directors. We expect to hear more from this motivated group of students very soon!

- Student Insurance: AAOM's National Health and Business Insurance Programs include Business Owners, Health and Welfare programs, National Guaranteed Mini-Med, auto, homeowners, and voluntary Benefits programs. Specifically, we offer Student Insurance for age 30 and under. If you are above age 30, AAOM offers a mini-medical policy that covers basic insurance needs.

Education and CEUs
- $60 Student Conference Rate: The next national AAOM-SO Meeting will be held at the AAOM’s 2006 Expo – Oriental Medicine…Healing the Body, Mind and Spirit. The International Conference and Exposition will be held in Litchfield Park (Phoenix), Arizona, October 19-23, 2006, at the Wigwam Resort and Spa. We are pleased to again offer a Student Rate of $60 to AAOM student members for all workshops scheduled Friday-Sunday, October 20-22, 2006. (The student rate does not include pre-conference and post-conference classes, meals, or overnights, but registration to these classes are priced at nominal student rates.) Student members registering for this rate MUST attend the AAOM Annual Meeting and Student Caucus meeting on Saturday morning, October 21, 2006. If you are not a student member, this is a wonderful reason to join, and if you are, mark your calendars today and plan to attend the conference and the next national AAOM-SO meeting. - Advocacy efforts across all fronts – legislative, access to herbs, insurance, etc. Stay current on the status of OM nationally. AAOM's advocacy provides timely updates to keep you advised on the "State of OM". Additionally, our grass-roots advocacy creates the opportunity for our membership and the profession-at-large to directly write their legislators about a myriad of topics. Not only do you receive these updates via email, but all are archived in the AAOM press room.
- American Acupuncturist and American Acupuncturist News Edition: The American Acupuncturist is the official publication of the AAOM. It is published quarterly, in December, March, June and September. Inside the journal you will find a wide variety of academic and political articles concerning the Oriental Medicine professional. Topics range from new techniques and treatments to updates on important legislation and reports from various AAOM committees. The American Acupuncturist keeps you abreast of all the latest research from the country's leading professionals. It is also the best source for information on upcoming seminars and conferences and updates on AAOM sponsored events. The American Acupuncturist has additionally been converted to a newspaper broadsheet format and is shipped directly to OM schools nationwide for distribution to all students and faculty.
- Qi-Unity Report: Participation in and Receipt of AAOM's Qi Unity Report – A monthly collaborative news letter (published the 3rd Monday of each month) written by, for and about the profession. AAOM members are encouraged to contribute – to view the range of opportunities it offers to keep informed, or to offer your services to other members in the profession, you are welcome to learn more.
- Online Library: The Library of the AAOM website is designed to primarily serve the public (or current patients of acupuncture) seeking to learn more about Acupuncture, Oriental Medicine or Complimentary Medicine. History of Acupuncture: In this section of the library you will find a brief history of acupuncture and herbology written by AAOM. Following this overview, we are pleased to provide a myriad of web links covering this history of acupuncture.
Guidelines on Basic Training and Safety in Acupuncture (PDF): The World Health Organization convened a Scientific Group in 1989 that recommended WHO develop a series of statements and guidelines on acupuncture relating to basic training and safety. More than 50 international experts shared their knowledge and experience in the preparation of this document.
Acupuncture and Pain Management: One of the primary reasons people seek acupuncture treatment is to address pain in the body relating to a specific illness or problem, or relating to a chronic condition. We are pleased to provide various articles and research highlighting pain management through acupuncture.
Acupuncture and Addiction: Acupuncture has been advocated as a safe effective treatment for addictive diseases. Within this section of the Library AAOM is pleased to provide information, resources and we blinks pertaining to the treatment of various types of addiction through acupuncture.

Acupuncture, Oriental Medicine, Complementary Medicine and Other Health Related Resources: In this section of the library, you will find myriads of links to Acupuncture, OM, Complementary Medicine and other Health Related Resources that might prove valuable in gaining knowledge and understanding in this area. As a means of introduction, we are pleased to provide an overview of the growth of complimentary medicine within the United States.

- AcupediaOnline.org: Following the www.wikipedia.org format, this website premiers in August 2006 as an online encyclopedia for the patient community and lay public. Designed to hugely expand public awareness and outreach for our profession, the site will feature AOM and CAM therapies + AOM and Integrative medial options. The Acupedia website will offer a wonderful tool to educate your clients.
